I used to count calories to ensure I wasn’t exceeding my daily allowance. It works really well, when you stick to it. It works more because you tend to eat less when you know you have to track it if you eat it. It also works because you begin to understand the relative calorie counts for various foods you routinely eat.
That fistful of almonds? 180 calories. Wow. That’s about 30 minutes of walking. Is it worth it?
I need to do this again because I need a reset. Ever since we moved, our lives have been more stressful. It will calm down eventually, but it has led to me overeating a bit here and there and it adds up. I’ve put on about 5 lbs since we moved, and I was slowly moving in the other direction before.
I use Cronometer to track calories and it’s great. I will begin this again and stick with it for 2-3 months and then reassess.
